j at concert and new vinyl floor

Rebecca, J and I went to the Zoo Tunes concert last Wednesday to see Ladysmith Black Mamba at the Woodland Park Zoo. J really enjoyed the show, and so did Rebecca and I. Here is the joy on J's face.

Today was one of my 9/80 days off, so I spent the morning making a pattern for the laundry room floor and then laying the vinyl we bought last fall. It feels good to finally have it done.

This shows the chaos that was the kitchen during the work...

This shows the completed job...

This shows the pattern of the floor, with my feet in the picture in order to show the scale of the pattern. The colors are a little off, but you get the idea.

And this is the photo I am most proud of! Who needs quarter round when your edges come out this good? One could think I was cheating by taking a photo of only one corner, after all there are four corners per room, but I promise you they all look this good. Making the pattern for the floor out of roofing paper per the suggestion of the guy at Home Depot helped quite a bit. Now I am going to go take a nap.....

Here is some more pictures from July 4th...

New house paint colors?

I have been playing with Photoshop based on this website....

...to try out different house colors. The results are a little rough, but give an idea of what the house would look like. I am not going to quit my day job in order to pursue a Photoshop career.

Here is the original image
