Babies in blankets

This first photo is evidence hopefully that J will be a wonderful big sister. It shows her sleeping peacefully with several dolls in bed with her. If you look carefully, she has carefully covered each of the dolls with a "blanket" (a baby wipe that she pulls from the container, carefully folds open and then gently lays over her dolls). When we had left her room earlier in the evening, the dolls were not covered up, so she must have gotten up and gathered the blankets after we left.

J is somewhat aware that a baby will be joining our family, but I don't think she has fully grasped the concept. We have been talking about Baby TBD around her, but in general haven't been making a big point about it. The teachers at daycare have been asking J if she is going if the baby is a boy or girl and she always answers, "girl", so maybe she knows something we don't.

This next picture is of a duck in the Arboretum. Rebecca, J and I went there a recent Saturday morning to enjoy the sunshine and blooming cherry trees. We have been trying to get out every weekend to a local attraction like Discovery Park, the Ballard Locks, or Golden Gardens to enjoy the nice Spring we are having this year.

J really enjoyed the feeling and sound of rustling leaves in the Arboretum. She played in this pile for quite a while picking up all the sticks she could find and carry. It was pretty impressive how many sticks she could fit into her small hands. She will be quite helpful picking up the sticks in my Mom's backyard the next time we go back to Indiana.

This last photo is J enjoying the box of books our friends Jens and Karine lent her. She was very excited to see the box filled with books and immediately sat down to pull each one out and read through it before picking out the next one from the box. Every night she insists we leave her a book to read when she goes to sleep.

It is so precious that she covers up her dolls that way! And how independent,to want a book for her to read on her own. Very sweet.
xo!
